Love is a Battlefield

BATTLEFIELD is a butoh inspired Live Art work that explores the cross generational desire to reach for perfection through conformity.

Using Butoh and 80’s dance, Chenoeh Miller will direct CYT performers aged 18-25 in the all encompassing sensory experience of Battlefield. With a Butoh body as their foundation the performers responses to Battlefield will be evocative, startling and thought provoking – the human propensity to seek perfection through conformity will be laid bare. The performance will take place in an intimate space and is suitable for all ages!

Chenoeh is well known for creating work which fuses the two performance styles of Butoh and Live Art: Butoh originated in Japan in the late 1950s, Live Art was a term coined in the 1980’s in the United Kingdom. Check out her previous work @ www.littledove.com.au

BATTLEFIELD will be performed March 11-14th Contact CYT Office for tickets on (02) 6248 5057

Fabulous give-aways: A Single Man

Thanks to Icon Movies and Canberra's Got Style, we have a special giveaway to my style-loving readers... 8 Double passes to a beautiful film by fashion designer Tom Ford: A Single Man...

Set in a sun-drenched 1960s California coastal canyon, featuring revealing performances by Colin Firth (foxy), Julianne Moore (I'm just freaking loving her hair) and Matthew Goode, A SINGLE MAN marks the breakthrough directorial debut of internationally influential American fashion icon (and former Gucci head designer) Tom Ford. Targeting indelible images of love, loss and rebirth, the film is a personal testament, filled with deep emotional resonance. So don't forget the tissues!

Torn apart by the shattering impact of the death of his long-time lover, college professor George Falconer (Best Actor Oscar nominee, Colin Firth) experiences the most transformative day of his life, blending past and present, desire and despair, and discovering that love persists even after the object of love is gone.

"The film is an aesthetic pleasure, like being in a designer hotel, reading a deliciously sad novel." The Times Online.
Take a look at the preview... Oh {sigh}...

A Single Man opens nationally on February 25th and will be showing in Canberra at Dendy Cinema. To be in the draw to win one of 8 double passes to the film, just leave a comment to this post, I'll be choosing the winners by random draw on Friday morning (19th). Australian residents only.

How delicious... don't you just love it?

Handmade Market gets bigger and better - Again!

Revealed this week... two snippets of most excellent news regarding a new location (and date) for the next Handmade Market and... a full time retail space for the hottest Handmade goods in Canberra!!!

So, while you've been waiting for the next market event, Handmade creator Julie Nichols has been one very busy lady. Confirmed for Sunday March 28th, the market is set to be staged in and around the Devine rooms of Kamberra Winery - lovely! Julie has also revealed that some awesome new local designers have submitted applications this time around, so of course I can't wait.

Then of course we will have the central city retail space launched shortly after the market and I have been lucky enough to be involved in designing Shop Handmade. Here's a sneaky peek at what is on the drawing board...

Kids Antique White Double Door Wood Armoire - Double Door Armoire (Antique White) 42 x 22

Loads of spaces for large and small items, jewellery, clothing, art, literature and more... it's going to be a little bit of Handmade heaven!

I'm so there! Love it,

Have you met MissChief Maker?

Nestled into the gorgeous gardens of Rodney's Pialligo, there lies a treasure trove of the coolest and prettiest goodies for kids and mums - and with a cafe and playground at the door step - it couldn't get more decadent (if you have tiny ball & chains like I do!).

Misschief Maker, housed in it's own little (new) rustic shack is run by Canberra mum Katie Dawson, and is entirely stocked by women and mums, busily hand making lamps, clothing, acccessories, toys and more - including 13 Canberran's! Plus a range of pre-loved threads for little ones.

[Owls+Hunting+Lamps+1.jpg]

Now's the time to check it out though, because, not only is the weather perfect for lolling in the gardens with a cold drink, but Katie is running a "gold sticker sale" for February - in time to make room for Autumn stock arriving soon. With loads of handmade clothes marked down up to 30% off and the big kids back to school this week, bring your pre-schoolers... I'll meet you there!

Goregoussss!
