Frocktober 12: Vintage style

While barely technically a dress, this gorgeous vintage fabric from my grandmother's stash has been loosley fashioned into a belted frock for today's spring floral outfit... I've worn it as is a couple of times, but intend to make an honest piece of clothing with it one day!

Frocktober 11: Stop Staring...

...actually, don't! This dress is a bit of a fave, but I've been saving it in case of a cool change in the weather, which arrived today in time for a return to the daily school days routine. Ahh, school mum, reporting for duty...

A bit slinky, a bit plaid, librarian length - plus curves! Sourced by hubby on Ebay, it's "Heather", by Stop Staring!

Gorgeous! Love Nina x

Don't forget to check out my whole Frocktober Challenge... I'm wearing a frock every day this month to raise funds for ovarian cancer research... please sponsor me here dahhling... I'd really really love your support, xx

Frocktober 10: Modern Glamour

Modern Glamour... I like to think I've got the suburban blend happening. And maybe my version is a little more on the relaxed side of things. I picked up a few delicious new books during the week at Paperchain in Manuka, one of which was Kelly Wearstler's Modern Glamour, loaded with inspiration galore... I'm loving it all, but one question comes to my mind...

I wonder if Kelly Wearstler ever had a ballistic rubber pig stuck on her ceiling?

Probably not... I'm just saying...

Here's what's new in my dining room, 6 garage sale chairs and a large fabric covered canvas... love it!

Hope you've had a glorious weekend,

Frocktober 9: baby shower

This morning I spent some time in the kitchen making some cutie little cupcakes for a friend's baby shower, without knowing the gender of said impending arrival, the colours of the day are pink, blue and cream... awww.

Meanwhile in a kitchen next door, smoke was seen billowing out the door at my (very) elderly neighbor's house... and thus I can confirm I learned a few important lessons...
1. I can, in fact, sprint quite well in these seemingly impractical shoes all terrain (through the garden bed I planted the other day and over a retaining wall!).
2. Though the 'cooking' was put out before flames came about, smoke inhalation... not good.
3. It's important to keep an eye out for those who may need it at times.

4. smoke is not an entirely appropriate aroma to wear to a baby shower... I feel rather dishevelled

None the less, we are all fine and a delightful afternoon drinking bubbles and eating cupcakes followed... sigh...

Frocktober 8: a seaside day trip

For the last day of school holidays we took a day trip to the beach with the kiddies. The weather could not have been more divine, the sea sparkled in the sun, shells were collected and many sandcastles were constructed and deftly ruined. Two exhausted little people sleeping well tonight!

Back to the ol' routine next week... boo. These holidays have been a bit gorgeous!

Frocktober 7: Minnie mouse goes to Manuka

I've not ever worn this dress before because of it's slightly-too-short hem line, but this time, teamed with a slightly longer skirt underneath, suddenly I'm a little more comfortable with it's length...

Dress: Valley Girl on Ebay!
Shoes: Ebay
Skirt: Op Shop
Necklace: Tango & James (available at Shop Handmade)
"superficial" decal: Typo

And some red lippy for no other reason than... why not?!

Frocktober 6: Lunch with a friend

I've been waiting for a fun excuse to wear this adorable bow from KimoYes, so teamed with a little orange cardi and some Tango & James jewellery, it's perfect with a pale blue Alannah Hill slip... although, who needs an excuse to be colourful?

And there's a new chair in town too!

Frocktober 5: In the city

Heading into the city for a ride on the carousel, a spot of shopping, a cruisy lunch and some gorgeous sunshine...

A beautiful day,

Frocktober 4: In the Garden

Gardening usually seems impossible... around here, it's a mammoth proposal. A major re-design is upon us out front... these are just the begining...

Sigh... things are looking better already!

Frocktober 3: Sunday schleping, feeling frankly seedy

After celebrating yesterday's magnificent wedding with much, much champagne, things this morning are well seedy. Despite this, by the end of the day we managed to clear a civillised corner of our lounge room for small people's new computer. Desk $1.25 on Ebay, awesome school chair from reader Susan, wall canvas from Typo.

And fresh flowers from the garden to brighten the day!
