A time for change: Canberra's Got Style frocks out

My friends, I have recently made a most difficult decision to step down Canberra's Got Style blog to allow for a fresh beginning for new and undiscovered projects. The decision is only difficult because my work here is not done, new designers and events are emerging every day and I only wish I could afford the time they deserve to be shared here. In the 3 years since the beginning nearly 400 posts have come by, and here they will remain, a record of Canberra's emerging style.

I love that Canberra's Got Style has made an impact (however small) on perceptions of Canberra for locals and visitors alike. I've had an amazing experience here and hope you all have too.

So, this is not quite the end, there will still be October - or rather Frocktober. For our final month I will be breaking my usual uniform of jeans to instead wear a frock for every day in October - all to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. I hope you enjoy a little look into my wardrobe with daily outfit shots of my month of Frocktober, and consider donating generously to this worthy cause! You can join in too, so check out the what the Canberran Frockettes are planning for you at their blog.

Much Love, Nina x

Hope to see you here...

ReLOVED: ReVAMPED

I've been busily designing, thrifting, collating and stitching up a gorgeous little fashion collection of one-off pieces for the catwalk fashion event coming up at the end of this month, Re-Loved Re-Vamped, formed by dynamic fashionista duo Hanny and Lee Dewar.

I just can't wait to show you what I've been up to, here's just a sneaky peek at something from some of the 5 local designers in the show...

This event, hosted at Craft ACT, showcases sustainable and recycled fashion to the people of Canberra. Each designer has been given a brief to deconstruct, re-work and re-imagine existing clothing and materials into new creations, promoting a sustainable fashion culture.

"Re-Loved:Re-Vamped" will be held on Thursday 30 September in the gallery space of Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre in Canberra city. Doors open 6pm for pre-show drinks and nibbles. Admission is FREE! Come and join our fabulous designers who have worked so hard to create their fab collections.

Be there! Love Nina x

SPRING!!!

A pinch and a punch for the first of the month... and it's SPRING!!!
Here's something to look forward to in our gardens this month... not to mention the defrosting of the landscape and a return to leaves on the trees.

Enjoy! love Nina xxx
