Well who could possibly resist???

Luft wall decal set in white, Kikki-K
I'm thinking these WHITE stickers will be perfect for my little boy's room as an addition to the hand painted white tree silhouette (on an adjacent wall though)...

Hugo's room has just been featured on gorgeous baby decore site Spearmint Baby ! He's out of the cot though and now sleeps in a convertible toddler bed (Ikea 'Vikare' - best thing ever).

Knitters please: Stitching up the NGA

Sharpen your needles and prepare to knit! (There's phrase I never imagined I would use!).
Knitters are invited, by guerilla knitting group Knitta Please, to create pieces 10-20cm wide x 140cm long which will be stitched together to create coverings for 6 concrete poles at the front of the National Gallery of Australia.

Any colour, yarn or technique will be accepted, but extra points for originality - the brighter and wackier, the better!!! How awesome is this bus??? See more of their handiwork around the globe at their website here.

If you're up for it, and as slow as me - start your knitting now and follow the link here to find out where to send your knitting and when.
This event is part of Knitta Please, a festival of events from 5 to 12 July, which celebrates the final week of the exhibition Soft sculpture at the NGA.

Loooove it, can't wait to see it, installation takes place over 4 days at the Gallery from July 7th.

Soft Animators: exhibition ends soon

This little exhibition has been on my do-not-miss list, and this weekend is your last chance to see it. Closing this Sunday, Soft Animators is currently on exhibition at Craft ACT in the city...

"soft animators came about after sensing a movement in the field of textiles that involved the abstraction and creation of comical versions of the physical world. I was particularly interested in artists who were creating entities, characterisations in textiles resulting in soft characters. I saw this as an opportunity to comment on the creative process itself and to examine how artists bring into the world that which was previously non existent. Sarah crowEST, Alan Jones, CUPCO, Ghostpatrol and Cat Rabbit were invited to show together following on from conversations with other artists, (in particular Ellis Hutch) and from visuals I had spotted in various media" - Jas Hugonnet, curator

More images here. Exhibition ends this Sunday... gorgeous!

Wedding in style: Gorgeous

Written by Kathryn Porritt

Caterina and Joe are one very stylish Canberra couple who tied the knot on Saturday 18th April 2009. My involvement in their day was to style their wedding and honestly, with Caterina at the helm, they really didn’t need much help. This is one glamorous lady.

Here are the gorgeous photos from Caterina and Joe’s wedding, styled by Canberra event planners (weddings parties anything) Pink Frosting and photographed by the very clever Steven from Creative Image.

Caterina and Joe were married at St Christopher’s Catherdral in Manuka, followed by a stunning reception at Rydges Lakeside Ballroom in Canberra City.

Caterina’s hair and makeup using Napoleon Cosmetics were by Bentley’s Bridal at the Jamison Centre, Canberra.

Caterina’s stunning gown is by Arushie Bridal Couture in Leichardt. The ruffles and boning are so gorgeous. When I first saw Caterina, she took my breath away.

Bridesmaid gowns in a soft mushroom latte colour, accented with black netting by Park Avenue Bridal Parramatta.

Yes, Joe and the boys also look great… What a handsome bunch of Canberra boys!

And the Pink Frosting team download underworld rise of the lycans movie did a wonderful job of styling the reception. The Rydges Lakeside Ballroom has never looked better! The team at Rydges loved it so much, they’re using our glamorous images in their advertising…

Caterina and Joe, congratulations and thank you for sharing your amazing day!

Zseike: haunting beauty

Discovered on Etsy, talented Canberran photographer Zseike. I thought these images possess a haunting beauty and simplicity. Movement and stillness. I could not wait to share my favourites with you.

And the first image captures a beauty in fog which has me in raptures about winter in the capital...

So beautiful. Visit Zseike's etsy shop for more.

Who's That girl?: A fashionista with byte

Today's Canberra Times Relax magazine has a little feature about style bloggers, with yours truly representing Canberra! I spoke with fashion writer Claire Low a few weeks ago about Canberra's Got Style...

"With a background in textiles, fashion and interior design, Barrett fits blogging around her busy lifestyle which incldes running her handmade accessories and homewares brand Tango & James, and being a stay-at-home-mum of two young children. Her blog showcases local design, fashion, architecture and photography and is a reply to those who say the capital is daggy"

The article also points to the girls at Go Fug Yourself, Singaporean Bagaholic Boy and fellow Canberrans with style at Pony and Pink... love!

Thankyou Claire, a lovely article and (might I say) the first to be completely factually correct!
Hope you had a Relaxing weekend!
