Helloooooooo.... spotted this morning on Canberra's online auction site Allbids, a repeat of multiple offerings of Harry Bertoia side chairs in white. Word is they are the real deal, and I am crying inside because my house cannot possibly fit another chair... or can Nina make room for these?...

So in love, maybe it's time to update my dining room, now with huge extendable table and already earmarked for an enormous painting on the wall, the white chairs would look pretty amazing here... and I would finally have all matching chairs!... hmm...

I think I talked myself into it! Don't outbid me ok?

Oh yes: KimoYES

Since discovering KimoYES at the first Vintage fair last year they have been my most eagerly sought stall every time. I was thrilled to learn they are Canberrans and are expanding their range of handmade items which will be available at the Old Bus Depot markets and at the next installment of the fabulous Handmade Market (Sept 12)...

Already established as merchants of beautiful vintage kimono panels and off-cuts online, mother and daughter team, Jill and Jane Grant of KimoYES also create incredible quilts and cushions. New to the collection are baby booties, fashion brooches and an amazing collection of unique fascinators - what an awesome way to use these fabrics!

Stay tuned at Handmade Market for the launch of Chinchilla Creations, a fashion line of embellished shirts and fascinators developed by Jane... I can't wait!

So Gorgeous! Shop online at KimoYES.com and see them at Handmade Market in bloom in September. Love it!

Kids in style: Riley and the Sleeping Quarters

Gorgeous Canberran Blogger, author of "Beijing Tai Tai" and childrens book "Riley and The Sleeping Dragon" and busy mum, Tania McCartney recently revealed the spaces she designed for her two, Ella and Riley, so cute I just had to share them with you...

[ella+room4.JPG]
"We absolutely love art in our house. These are canvases stretched with vintage fabric found on ebay and I got the black and cream paintings in Beijing. The cartoon portrait was done of Ella in San Diego and the black and white photo with the cut out of a fairy Ella was something I designed for an article in beijingkids magazine."
[ella+room2.JPG] [ella+room3.JPG]
"I began collecting wooden toys (above) for Ella when we first moved to Beijing. Such a shame she'll soon be turning 9 and will be well grown out of such things... maybe I can buy them for ME."
[ella+room1.JPG]

And in Riley's room, Tania has done a stellar job of fending off offending primary colours and Disney characters so plentifully on offer... The bed linen is adorable, who doesn't love monkeys?!

[riley+room+1.JPG]

And while Tania ponders whether it is time to 'mature' their rooms, she's happy to savour the innocense a while longer, "Isn't decorating a process not an end?". So true Tania!

[riley+room+3.JPG] [riley+room+4.JPG]

Beautiful rooms Tania, though I completely understand the need to make changes.

And make sure you check out Tania's books, they are both a great read,

Fashionistas: Don't miss this

It's on again........hoorah...

The way we wear fairs is back this weekend, this time for 3 days of vintage fashion loving heaven. The fair brings together all of 'the best' dealers from around Australia at Canberra's historic Albert Hall for the best vintage clothing, accessories, fashion ephemera, jewellery and more.

"Life's too short to wear ordinary clothes"

The theme this time around is "Fly me to the moon", with a 1969 fashion display celebrating the 40th anniversary of the lunar landing. But of course you can still expect the fabulous open slather of vintage and retro frocks, accessories, textiles, ephemera and more. OMG I can't wait...
