What about that market!!

Yowzahhh! If you missed it... - where the bloody hell were you??? Handmade Market was H-U-G-E, and with an estimated 12,000 Canberrans and style hunting tourists descending on the event at it's new location at Yarralumla Woolshed prooved it's position as Canberra's newest premier event.

Certainly well pleased were every stall holder I spoke with, and despite the apparent short comings in the parking department, all of the shoppers were extremely impressed with the quality of work on offer, not to mention the vast quantity of it. And while moments were pure mayhem, I did manage to slip away to do just a little bit of shopping... I couldn't leave without a gorgeous sequinned top by Chinchilla Creations (and I still covet the matching jacket... sigh), a name plaque for my little boy's room by Mooza Designs and some chai from the Chai girl (ooh yeah). I shall be eternally grateful for the happy mix-up which had my stall move a significant distance from Lindsay & Edmunds chocolaterie (instead of almost on top of it) my ass says thank you.

A big big thank you to my gorgeous Frenchy friend Odile who tirelessly helped me ALL DAY! Legend.
And a special thank you to people who deemed my goodies goergeous enough to bring home, and my gorgeous readers who stopped to say hello, your comments mean the world to me, so keep them coming!

Love Nina x
Were you there too... what did you think? what did you get?

It was INCREDIBLE!!! So many beautiful handmade marvels all together. It was also lovely to see so many people out and about Friday night and all Saturday - friends bumping in to each other or out for a happy time together. It was like being on the set of a film.
Your shop space was beautiful Nina.
See you next time. Michaela.

I stopped and bought choccies at the Lindsay and Edmunds stall - my arse is NOT thanking ME.

I thought the energy of these markets was something like the Red Hill markets in Melbourne - a really great vibe, very arty and appreciative. I'm so glad they were a huge success.

I went on Friday night and it was a great vibe! It must have been mad on Sat - more stalls more people..... I bought some Lilymoon prints and a garland from Paperclip and a Japanese fabric fat quarter. The items I wanted to buy and may later is a LOT longer.

The woolshed was a fantastic venue for the markets, much more in keeping with the style and vibe of Handmade than the Albert Hall. There was such a great buzz and it was literally packed to the rafters. While I am unfortunately currently on a strict dollar diet, I mentally spent hundreds, and even eyed off the fabulous sequined top you mentioned Nina. I also loved Klei's fabulous stone jewellery and amazing works of art by Annie Pritchard.

Would an entire weekend be considered next time? Or would the stall-holders fall over in a dead faint at the thought?!

Sorry I missed you, hunny bunny! I went Fri night and then on Sat spent the whole day ferrying to 3 different parties, followed by our Roald Dahl Day (http://taniamccartney.blogspot.com/2009/09/roald-dahls-day.html) extravaganza at Dalton's on Sunday. Fabulous!

So glad you had a remarkable day; wish I could have seen your gorgey new wares. Next time...

I LOVED the market - as always!!! Awesome location, fab designers. Love love love!

I really enjoyed it too. Thought the venue was pretty cool. I bought some stuff and lusted after Electic Firefly's lights. They were unbelievable!

I got an Electic Firefly light! A plain creme one, it looks fabulous in hanging in my room. I stopped to say hi too! Can't wait for the next one. I just wish there was an infinite number of parking spaces.

(Though as a single 19 year old student I did feel a little overwhelmed by baby clothing stores!)
