Exotic Interior Style: Sartika

After 12 years travelling the globe as an aid worker, spending vast amounts of time in Asia, it wasn't hard for Sartika's director Peter, to fall in love with exotic design. Now, bringing contemporary asian imports to Canberra is Sartika's specialty.
Open for 4 months, the showroom is already attracting a strong customer base including designers and stylists seeking gorgeous exotic style.

Need some help putting it all together? Coming soon will be a design service to help clients achieve a wholistic look in their homes.

Sartika boasts an eclectic mix of Asian styles which can be used in combination with contemporary interiors. And the most decadent outdoor furniture range is on it's way, beautiful chunky timber benches and more - be sure not to miss it.

Sartika - exotic furniture and accessories is on Collie Street, Fyshick, just across the road from Domayne. And the website is nearly ready... here.

This week: Nina's been a busy girl

I've been a busy girl this week, in between being quite house-bound with the little kiddies, I have managed to get a few things happening in my own little world... wardrobe re-fashioning, and desperately trying to get the Canberra's Got Style Office finished, a sneak preview...

Which means, to answer yesterday's commenter, that I haven't been able to get out and about town sourcing the good stuff. But don't panic, there's plenty more style in Canberra to come! And stay tuned for the full reveal of the Canberra's Got Style Office soon.

New Developments: New Acton East

The boutique development New Acton, at the site of the historic Acton Hotel, has piqued my interest. It promises to provide a striking architectural piece where you can live, shop, dine, take in coffee and art.

Already lined up to open soon are Labimbi for deluxe hair and spa treatments, upmarket Parlour Wine room (by the owner of Knightstbridge Penthouse), Rubix esspresso bar (by owner of Tonic, Justin Harvey). Kell's Kitchen, Luxury boutique Diamant Hotel with "breathtaking interior design". Not to mention the Arts at New Acton program promising "to reveal, honour and support the work of Australian artists and designer/makers as part of our creation of a unique part of the city."
But here's a little peek at the CGI's of the boutique apartments for sale...
The apartments are for sale via Colliers.

Styling kids: Little Owl

Brand new on the scene in Braddon, adding to the design mecca on Lonsdale st (already home to The Hive Gallery, Unit Concepts, Bourgois Pig, Iskip Itrip and Pink Inc) is something for the littlies. Little Owl, opened 2 weeks, has already become a favourite spot for several mums in my loop (and now me!) and with very good reason.

Inspired by a shop in Byron bay catering for the stylish gift giver, Little Owl stocks quite a unique range of contemporary designs with a vintage twist: clothing, blankets, nappy bags, handmade toys, puzzle games and much more - never seen in Canberra before.
Labels, exclusives in Canberra, include Miss Haidee, Itch, Tea Pony (check out their website), Blink Designs, Doobi, Well Spotted, and the iconic new baby rocker "Coco" by Bloom... hot hot hot!
Other brands stocked are (one of my faves) Rock Your Baby (for genuinely hilarious slogan tops) and Cocoon Couture (tree, above centre). I was particularly excited to see the range of boys clothing, ALL of which I would dress my boys in... rare moment!
Couldn't leave without... a hankerchief (handprinted with a lego man on it!), the long sleeve t-shirt with the superhero bunny, by Itch (pictured) and this too cute origami faces set by Djeco.
Little Owl, 25 Lonsdale st Braddon. The website is coming soon... www.littleowl.com.au
