New Mag: Twenty600

A new, cool and free, Canberran magazine with plenty of cheek has found it's way to the Canberra's Got Style office. Editor George Poulakis, tells us about Twenty600...
How did you come up with the idea of doing twenty600?
"Basically I wanted a mag that I could read. Something with a bit of substance, which people wouldn't just flick through in hope of spotting themselves in the social pages. And more than just a what's on guide or a real estate brochure. You look around, and everything's just filled with ads and advertorial. That's not cool."
And what does the name mean?
"It's just a funky way of writing 2600, our city's post code. The people I see reading this mag will generally be the type who spend a lot of time around the city, whether they work, live or shop there."

I couldn't agree more that Canberra is crying out for something with style and substance. What can we expect to see covered by your mag?
"Heaps more. We've just commissioned a few new contributors, so in addition to our regular stuff like reviews, profiles, music, film, travel, food, books and rants, we've got a whole bunch of exciting new stuff coming your way."
Tell us about your team of erm...experts, how did you find them?
"Granted, most of our writers just so happen to be my mates from uni, but they all did the professional writing degree with me, and just so happen to be some of the best bunch of writers in town. Between them all, they've written for pretty much every publication imaginable, so I guess that sorta makes them qualified."
Oh, and what the hell... George, how would you describe your personal style?
"Dangerous question. There's George the editor: he's the one who needs to maintain a professional reputation. Then there's the real George: he's the narcissistic, neurotic control freak who tends to blur the line between cockiness and arrogance. As far as his writing goes, he likes to write the way he talks he finds nothing more boring than reading formal writing that uses fancy words for the sake of being fancy. And apparently he talks about himself in the third person."

Where (and when) can we expect to grab the next issue?
"It comes out quarterly, so expect a sexy new issue at the start of every season. Not long to go now! " Issue #2 hits the streets March 1. There are only 20,000 of them, so grab your copy while you can on the streets of Canberra. From cafes to shopping centres, you're bound to see twenty600 wherever you look. More specifically though, check out places like JB Hi-Fi, Dendy, Stocks, Canberra Glassworks, CISAC, The Terrace, Essen, Felt and Landspeed.

Anon, leaving a comment like that anonymously is pretty poor form. How about we do a personal interview with you? What would they say?
